...  German Shepherd was initially used to herd sheep. They seem to be a good-natured dog and perform well in a family atmosphere. They need to be trained at a very early age however since they do have a tendency to be control. Many of those dogs that are surrendered to Humanitarian Societies are surrendered often due to behavioural issues or health issues. Dogs in the open class are required to pass this test and then was considered for high respects. In this this ‘test of courage’ all of the dogs exhibited at the Show in the mature class are threatened, individually, with a stick by an ‘assailant’, suitably protected with a padded arm and protecting clothing. As a consequence there's a definite improvement in the personality of German Shepherd Dogs, but there's still room for lots of further improvement. This ‘test of courage’ is a confident step toward the improvement of the protecting instinct of the German Shepherd Dog.
